Megaphone's Speakers Bureau is a public awareness program that connects audiences with lived experiences of substance use and poverty. Through a 1.5 hr event, Indigenous women with lived experiences of substance use, poverty, and homelessness will lead a conversation to help participants better understand the life experiences of people who experience homelessness and access supportive housing. The Speakers Bureau will create a safe space to identify personal and organizational assumptions that could be unintentionally harmful and begin to develop a strategy of continued learning to better support clients with lived experiences of poverty. This conversation will be facilitated by Megaphone's lead facilitator Sekani Dakelth and she will be joined by storytellers Angel, Shay, and Sandra.
