Scott Barker is from the community of Gitwinksihlkw, one of 4 villages which comprise the Nisga’a Nation in Northwestern British Columbia. He is of the wolf (Laxgibuu) tribe, from the House of Aama Gat. He has spent most of his adult life in Vancouver and other urban communities and currently lives in Terrace. Scott’s first area of studies was Criminology, and when he began a new path in life took up Business Administration which he felt would open doors to opportunities and growth professionally. Those two areas led to working for multiple Indigenous organizations including running a small business, working with the unhoused to at-risk youth, working in housing for his Nation and ultimately to his current role as a RSDC for FNHIC. Scott has a strong belief in service to his community and to being a part of finding solutions to current issues, and is excited to be a part of the FNHIC team as they work to improve housing and infrastructure for First Nations in BC. Scott enjoys cultural connections, hiking, exercise, and is passionate about sports as a tool for mental health.
